In August 2008, one month after creating an app for the iPhone, Associated Press recorded 16 million page views on more than 1 million local news stories. Their clean looking application was split into six categories for ease of use: local news, sports, breaking news, entertainment, news videos and news photos.
AP also found that around two thirds of their mobile audiences were now using an iPhone in which to view the content.

Jeffrey Litvack, global director of new media markets at AP Digital, commented that “other sites have been out there and it took them over a year to get to the place it took us one month since we launched the product.”
